Day 3 was uneventful and I did not take a lot of pictures. Most of the day was spent looking at tree lined streets like this.
There are a lot of lakes in Washington and they are quite large. I would reach a lake and would have to ride around it to get to the other side and continue on. There were more hills than I wanted. That is just part of the ride. The good part about uphills is there is usually a downhill on the other side. Check out the max speed for the day. 46.3 miles per hour. That was crazy fast. Especially with all the gear I am carrying. I was also riding the brakes a bit to not go any faster.
I found myself singing hymns and some strange songs that kept popping into my head. I was singing the hymns to get the goofy songs out of my head like "Back in the Saddle Again" by Aerosmith and "I Want to Ride My Bicycle" by Queen.
My final note for the day is to send a big thank you to Teton for keeping me powered up. He gave me the solar charging gadget. It is fantastic. It charges all day while I'm and provides power when needed. It also has a light for those dark times.
Another big day tomorrow. Looking at another 114 miles if all goes as planned.
I forgot to add that my rear end is soooo sore! : )
ReplyDeleteOK this comment is from Randy...not Julie...guess I have her Google e-mail on....Brother you know I have heard that that make these pants specifically designed for bikers with padding in the right spots. I know you were not a fan of those from our 2014 C&O Canal ride, but you may want to consider a pair.
DeleteYou've already reached looney proportions...and it's only Day 3!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteWe think you are doing great.
ReplyDeleteThis is Gary: It has been a long time since I've been in Bremerton. I attended nursery school there during World War II. My folks worked at the Navy Yard. Tomorrow you will cross over the Columbia River on the Astoria Bridge. It is high and you look down on the city. God speed
ReplyDeleteGreat ride so far your making huge strides in such a short amount of time! Your biggest rides will be over soon a great milestone to achieve! Keep those hamstrings and quads loosened up and perseve that gluteus maximus lots of miles still left! Your downhill speed is awesome but 44 mph that some serious speed! Keep on peddling... Our prayers for you!
ReplyDeleteI just reread your note; 46 mph; gracious! We should have put a GoPro on your helmet!
